Reflection | Grad Life

TxState I can't believe it has been three months since my last post. All I can say is that it has been the longest three months of my life, or at least it felt like it was going painfully slow. I have just completed my first semester of grad school and I can say for a fact that it is hard. I should try to give myself some sort of credit. It has been over two and a half years since I have gotten my bachelor's, so I was completely  out of school mode when I decided to go back. I will say that if you make the decision to get your masters, definitely make sure that you have weighed all of your pros and cons.  I am not at all saying that I regret going back to school. There have been some aspects that I have enjoyed more than others. For one, I cannot honestly see how I could hold a regular paying job while focusing on school full-time. I decided to go for a graduate assistantship so I can bring in some income since I won't be "working"  anymore. For me it b...

Reflection | Summer

Road Trip 2013 Hey Y'all. Wow it's been quite some time since I posted last. Life has just been keeping me busy, but its for good reason. In June I took the GRE and applied to Grad School and was excepted. Of course I am more than excited. This is going to bring about a lot of changes in my life and I welcome them with open arms. Things have been a little stagnant lately so it will be a breath of fresh air for me. I hope to start posting more often too. With me going to school, I will have more time to write, do some photography and maybe pick up my other hobbies! I have also decided to transition into natural hair, so that's random. I am contemplating if I want to document my journey or not. I am only a month into transition so I don't have anything to show as of yet. I am trying to shift into a healthier lifestyle still. This process has been filled with lots of bumps, but I guess all that matters is that I keep going right! I attempted a juice cleans...

Weekly Chat

Hi y'all! I know it has been a while since I have posted. A lot of things have been going on as of late and I just haven't had time to post. Today I just wanted to talk about whats been on my mind. Well lets see... My mother and my momsie (grandmother) have been in and out of the hospital and rehabilitation. As of last week my grandmother was finally released and was able to go home. She has been in the hospital since the first week of January. I could not be more elated because she has technically been in the hospital since November with just one week of being out in January. My mother is in rehabilitation to regain strength in her legs. She has Multiple Sclerosis and so it is pretty much a guessing games when it comes to her symptoms and whenever she relapses. With this I have been thinking about my health....like a lot a lot. Along with my dad having Type 2 Diabetes and my sister being recently diagnosed as being pre-diabetic, I am beginning to get wor...

Reflection | 2013

Hope y'all had an amazing Christmas! This past year has gone by in the blink of an eye and I may say this at the end of each year, but this year it truly has.  As I sit here  reflecting about this past year, I can definitely say it was a year of change but not necessarily for the good or bad. There were some decisions that I wish I would have thought out more clearly and some moments that I wish I would have spent more time living within. 2014 will be the  the Year of Focus for me and I cannot wait to bask in the glow of all of the things that I will accomplish. Hope y'all have a great New Years...but don't get crazy.  -Desi
