I can't believe it has been three months since my last post. All I can say is that it has been the longest three months of my life, or at least it felt like it was going painfully slow. I have just completed my first semester of grad school and I can say for a fact that it is hard. I should try to give myself some sort of credit. It has been over two and a half years since I have gotten my bachelor's, so I was completely out of school mode when I decided to go back. I will say that if you make the decision to get your masters, definitely make sure that you have weighed all of your pros and cons.
I am not at all saying that I regret going back to school. There have been some aspects that I have enjoyed more than others. For one, I cannot honestly see how I could hold a regular paying job while focusing on school full-time. I decided to go for a graduate assistantship so I can bring in some income since I won't be "working" anymore. For me it brings in just enough to pay the bills and then some. I have enjoyed my assistantship so far because I am able to work with my favorite professor that I had in undergrad and help her with research and be a teachers assistant for her class. It has been very rewarding to say the least.
The one thing I was not prepared to do in my first semester was a research project. Not a paper nor a proposal, but a full blown research project and to make me even more nauseous, I had to present my research at a graduate research conference! I can go on about how stressful it has been, the lack of sleep I am still recuperating from, and how many crocodile tear producing breakdowns I have had to go through but I wouldn't change any of it. I now know that the key to having a successful time in grad school is ORGANIZATION and TIME MANAGEMENT and at least I have this knowledge to take into my second semester. I unfortunately had to do and learn things the hard way, but hey you live and learn right? Well I guess this is all for my rant about grad school...for now, but It feels nice to be blogging again. Now that it is literally nine days before Christmas, I think I should start on getting some shopping done.
Thanks for reading!
